This is a bit of general information for all you 'Networkers' out there.
The following is a list of NIC's (Network Interface Cards) that the ACER
TECHNOLOGIES model 5280 Workstation is certified to work with, (among
others):
A.) For SFT NETWARE and 86 OR 286 ADVANCED V2.0a
ACER 5210 ARCNET
ACER 5220 ETHERNET
Adv. Netware 86 & 286 G-Net v2.0 ROM A
Adv. Netware 86 & 286 G-Net v2.0 Rom B
NOTE: The ROMS A & B must be purchased as a pair and installed
on the Remote Reset Card.
Allen-Bradley VistaLAN/PC
Corvus Omninet
IBM Token-Ring Network
MICOM-Interlan 5010
Netware Ethernet
Netware S-Net Intelligent NIC
Netware S-Net NIC
PC-NET
Proteon ProNET
Standard Microsystems/Pure Data
3COM Etherlink
B.) For IBM PC NETWORK PROGRAM V1.2
IBM Token Ring
C.) FOR 3COM ETHERSERIES AND 3+
3COM Etherlink
NOTE: The IBM Token Ring Adapter II will not work at 12MHZ in the
5280 AcerStation. If you choose to use the IBM Token Ring
Adapter II, switch the system speed of the 5280 to 8MHZ. This
can be done by using the 'SPEED" utility on the ACER Utilities
Diskette shipped with the 5280. Another way is to type:
CTRL/ALT/+ on the keyboard, where the '+' is the one on the
numeric keypad.
I hope this information will be of use to someone out there.
Uncle Bart.
